Naked Table Ireland Workshop - June 25th, 2011

In its international debut, the Naked Table Project will be hosting an event on June 25th at Fruitlawn Garden in Abbeyleix, Co. Laois, just about an hour south of Dublin.  The garden is owned by Arthur Shackleton, one of Ireland’s premier garden designers, and his wife Carol Booth.  Arthur is the brother of Charles Shackleton, the creator of The Naked Table Project and designer of the tables.

In true Naked Table fashion, the wood has been sourced locally, and preparation for the table (its “chain of custody”) draws from Irish craftsmen and foresters.  The tables will be made in the famed Irish Oak, both appropriate for the event and superior in quality and texture.

The Naked Table’s traditional community meal will be attended by the makers and guests from all over Ireland, as well as internationally.  Food will be prepared by Sarah Webb of Abbeyleix’s Gallic Kitchen, and participants will be privy to an exclusive talk by Matthew Jebb, Director of Ireland’s National Botanical Garden, on the significance of the Irish Oak.  The event will be held under the garden’s natural Hornbeam Tunnel.

Join us for this one of a kind event in Ireland!  Learn more about purchasing a table or tickets to the meal here.
